Front Porch Brewing

A local brewery out of Wallingford, Connecticut commissioned me to design their visual
identity as well as packaging for their initial canning run. Front Porch wanted a logo
design that represents hanging out and casually passing time.

They strive to represent the “chill” party side of beer.
The symbol of an adirondack chair came to mind, and I capitalized.

DEVIL CHILDREN PALE ALE LABEL DESIGN

Front Porch also commissioned me to design the beer label for
their first canning run, a 16oz pale ale called “Devil Children.”
After spending some time at the brewery with some of the
owners, I was able to brainstorm on the idea of a boy sitting
in front of a pale, white TV screen. It was after this initial idea
that the apparition made sense to form from the boy’s shadow.
This was all realized through charcoal and graphite, with a touch
of white gouache. The logotype for the beer was to be drawn in
the style of a child’s handwriting in crayon.

This commission is a prime example of my creative process.
The best ideas and executions unfold while I create.
